The International Committee on Electromagnetic Safety (ICES) has been officially designated a Standards Committee of the IEEE Standards Association. ICES monitors the state of the science regarding human exposure to electromagnetic fields below the infrared spectrum and maintains safety standards and guidance documents. ICES operates under the universal principles of standards-setting activities, including open and balanced participation, consensus, due process, and oversight by an independent authority. As of March 30, 2023, ICES was reorganized under the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Standards Association (SA) Standards and Standards Innovation Strategic Management and Development Committee (S&SI SMDC).
