On 13 August 2018, Intel’s Dr. Jafar Keshvari stepped down as ICES TC34 chairman. Jafar led the Technical Committee for close to 5 years and contributed substantially to the revision and development on SAR computational and measurements standards for wireless communication technologies. Under his leadership the joint activities with IEC TC106 reached to an excellent level and joint working groups on 5G compliance assessment were established with IEC. Jafar also had initiated the development of several dual-logo (IEC/IEEE) standards on the use of numerical methods for SAR assessment and has maintained close cooperation with IEC. The AdCom and the ICES membership are grateful to all his efforts and achievements. Jafar has been appointed as the chairman of ICES.
Dr. Teruo Onishi from NTT DoCoMo Japan, was unanimously elected as chairman of TC34. Teruo have been involved in IEEE and IEC standardization activities for over a decade on EMF assessment of wireless communication devices, and has recently nominated as the chair of wireless charging committee in IEC TC106. We wish Teruo Onishi a good and fruitful leadership of TC34 standardization activities. Jafar will be supporting Teruo in his chairmanship duties in the first months of his duties.
